A young boy named Rikuo who goes to the lake with his grandfather. While his grandfather fishes, Rikuo plays his flute, which quickly captures the attention of a Magikarp swimming in the lake. He befriends the Magikarp and attempts to bring him back home to his house, only for his parents to reject the idea and Rikuo is forced to hand over the Magikarp to a Pokémon breeder. However, there isn't much that could keep these two friends apart, at least not for long.
